We’re jumping in early to let you know about some events of interest coming up for fans of markets and organic agriculture in February!
On Sunday, February 2nd, from 10am-2pm the good folks at Le Papillon on the Park will be cooking up over 1 tonne of French Onion Soup to dish out to the community for The Leslieville Farmers’ Market‘s third annual Souper-Bowl fundraiser in support of the market. Bring your own bowl & spoon or bring jars, buckets or whatever sized container you want to fill for the game or Super Bowl party. Pay-What-You-Can donations are gratefully accepted. There will also be the chance to win a weekly veggie box for a month care of Highmark Farm! Note that soup will be brewing outside, so dress warm!
The Guelph Organic Conference is on from January 30th-February 2nd, with a free tradeshow on Saturday and Sunday February 1st and 2nd. Lots of farmers will be heading out there, but there are workshops for home gardeners and organic enthusiasts of all types.
Back in TO later in the month, Canadian Organic Growers Toronto invites you to their 8th annual organic consumer conference The Organic Vision: In Search of Change. Keynote speaker this year is Woody Tasch, Founder and Chairman of Slow Money and author of Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms and Fertility Mattered. You can view the full roster of speakers at www.cogtoronto.org.
