This year, spring is taking its sweet time in some areas, so a few of our predictions for the fresh local things we thought we’d be eating by now have had to hang on a little bit!  First harvest dates for spring crops like asparagus can vary a great deal, but patience will be rewarded, and the beautiful spread of green is unstoppable now.  Local growers are very busy seeding, transplanting, and harvesting.

When you browse through our list of markets, you’ll notice that opening dates for the seasonal ones are widely spread, from late April until late June.  Everyone’s hoping for the perfect combination of great weather, farmers’ bounty, and eager customers.  Hurray for the first tastes of spring from fields, forests and greenhouses!
