Eat your greens! What a time it is for all the great stuff that loves cooler weather. Salads, sandwiches, soups and stir-frys can include a different local green for every day of the week.

For many of the outdoor markets, the season wraps up this month. You may want to speak to your favourite farmers about an extra-large order of potatoes, beets, onions, squash, or other storage vegetables. If your market ends soon, visit our list to find the ones that can keep you eating local year-round.  There’s a brand-new indoor one to try, too, beginning Friday October 10th, from 11-2, in the Rotunda, University College at U of T.

Another kind of local food celebration on this week is Laura Berman’s photography exhibition, “Bountiful, Beautiful Harvest”, on the main floor at City Hall from Monday October 6-Friday October 10.  Read more…
